So I discovered this rockin' band called Cake. I like the song Going the Distance. But I did some chores for my mom recently to pay for the $1 downlad of the remake of I Will Survive. It's from the 70s, which is a looooong time ago. My dad likes the original best, but my mom likes the newer version.
I like to pop in my earbuds and rock out on Mommy's laptop. My mom grew up around a lot of music: her mom always had cool mix tapes in her car made by her dad, and her dad always played cool records around the house. They always had good music in their van (NOT a minivan!) and her dad would play leg guitar (you know, when somebody plays guitar on their leg with one hand while they drive with the other.)
They didn't have seatbelts in big ole vans back then so my mom spent many hours on the floor of the van watching her dad play leg guitar to Led Zeppelin and The Who and The Beatles while her mom would journal in a notebook. Mom tells me stories and stuff.
Oh, that's part of my sister Eva in the picture ... she and I are besties. We get in SOO much trouble together and like it when Mom's face turns red because she knows she should spank our butts red but instead her face gets red and she shoos us out of the vicinity of the mess.
So to all my fans, what's your favorite song or memory of childhood/your parents? I promise I will comment back to you in the comments section!
Hi Kerrie, I just found your blog, I think from pinterest. I am really enjoying hearing about life with 5 kids and homeschooling. I used to be one of those crazy homeschoolers in a big family... and as the oldest I also had the responsibility of counting us whenever we went anywhere. That and carrying snacks for my youngest brother, so we could be away from the house for more than 20 minutes.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
Hi, Codi. I like your name. This is Sam because this is my post today and my mom has a cold so I'm handling all her fan mail. I'm 2 and I'm the youngest. My oldest brother Joel read your comment and he can relate. He doesn't have to count us but he is really helpful. When my mom has a writing deadline he will pick up and vacuum for chore points and play basketball with me so Mommy can focus on making money to save up for us to maybe go to Legoland someday. Do you have a blog? I would read it. Did you like homeschooling? Come back and see us!
ReplyDeleteHi Sam,
ReplyDeleteGood for you taking care of mommy's fan mail. I too would like to make it to Legoland some day, hopefully I will find enough money by the time my daughter is like 4 in a few years, or 4 years, cause she is so new right now, being a baby and all. I am really hoping she loves legos, or has a sibling who decides to love legos, because her dad has tons and tons of legos just waiting for kids to be old enough to play with them and not choke on them when they try to eat them cause they're so yummy looking.
I do have a blog, its deathbydenim.blogspot.com, and I write about things I try to make but never really finish. And there are a few cute baby pictures, but nowhere near enough cute baby pictures. I liked homeschooling too; I always did my work in my bedroom till my mom figured out I wasn't actually working, just reading tons of books, so she made sit at the kitchen table for a while... at least till we were talking to much to get things done.
