I posted about the Trim Healthy Mama Orange Creamsicle Shake that I make when I'm feeling run-down or like I'm eating too much junk. Just maintaining my weight right now is important to me as I focus on physical therapy for my hip/knee (just a lot of muscle work), so I'm not actively trying to lose weight but I do want to FEEL GOOD!
I got some good responses to that post ... some women are really losing weight just by making a simple change of replacing one crappy fast food meal a day with this shake. It really can be breakfast and lunch because it makes a lot. Then snack on veggies or fruit or almonds and you're good until dinner.
*Bonus: you aren't running to Starbucks for their mocha frappuccino light that I always get and pay 5 bucks for. Save money and gas and do it at home.
So here is the other shake I like to make when I'm sick of the orange situation or craving chocolate. I have modified it from the Trim Healthy Mama original.
Toss all this in a blender in this order and blend like crazy until the ice is all smooshed up! This * means I have modified it from the original.
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup water (*or cold-brewed coffee if you need some caffeine mid-afternoon or morning)
2 T unsweetened cocoa powder
*2 packets Truvia or Stevia or to taste (I now use the THM Super Sweet blend)
3/4 teaspoon Xanthan gum to thicken it or else it's watery and not like a shake
1 scoop Trim Healthy Mama Pristine Whey Protein (I hear plant-based protein powder gives you horrible gas and I don't need that action so I love this stuff ... you can get it on Amazon)
*2 T peanut flour for a peanut buttery taste
*2 T coconut sugar (I am not a fan of fake sugars and always have to mix them with some real sugars)
18 ice cubes
I think the #THM ladies are a little crazy because they give this tip in the cookbook about "a fun trick" of moving the drink to a food processor before adding the protein powder, process a minute or two and it creates a poofier frappa so you have more to enjoy.
Yeah, and I lost time doing all that and then washing an extra appliance. No way, ladies. The current drink I make looks like this. A full quart. I don't need it any bigger or it would take over the dang house and be flowing out the doors and windows like that time I accidentally put soap flakes in the dishwasher. Just kidding.
