The fridge is an
important appliance in our home. As with anything, there are some things you
will need to know in order to maintain it efficiently and correctly. The best
way to do this is by maintaining a regular cleaning pattern where you clean the
inside of the fridge on a weekly basis while also taking outside measures to
protect the sealant (the mastic) that holds your fridge together.
For this reason, I will be writing an article about how to properly care for your new device which should last you up until about 2-3 years after purchase. It's not meant as an instant solution nor does it magically stop any issues from occurring; however, if these guidelines are taken into consideration, your fridge should become more efficient, last longer and work at a better standard.
Over 30% of electricity consumed in the
average household is from fridges and freezers so being efficient with your
fridge can help cut down these costs significantly. If you already find any issue with your Samsung fridge, you should
hire a professional to help right away to avoid further damage.
Many fridges have a water dispenser which
allows you to refill your bottles straight from the fridge. This is a great
perk as it saves a lot of time and effort going back and forth to the tap! If
you do not use the water dispenser then that is fine too. However, I do
recommend using it as buying bottled water every day can really add up on your
shopping bill.
So here is a quick overview of how to
properly care for your fridge:
The first thing you should always do is
turn it off every time. Even if only turning it off for a few minutes, this can
help prevent heat from building up inside. This will also build up the
longevity of your device as well as prevent damages to its structure due to
leaks or other buildup through continued usage.
The second thing you should do is make
sure that there are no obstructions in front of the bottom grill where the air
comes out. These vents really need to stay clear so that they can disperse hot
air correctly, otherwise, it will create problems within the fridge allowing
bacteria to form on your food. If this occurs then be sure to clean it with a
disinfectant and avoid placing food there until it's dried properly.
Thirdly, try to keep the fridge door open
for as little time as possible. It causes an increase in humidity within the
fridge which makes it harder for the compressor to ventilate.
Be careful when loading (and unloading)
your fridge. Make sure that no heavy objects are placed within its way or that
nothing is placed too close together otherwise they'll block off parts where
you need them. Heavy items should always be placed at the bottom shelf and only
smaller items above. You should also never stack food too high inside
as you might crush it or block off parts of the fridge where you need them to
be.
Another thing to take into consideration
is that if your fridge starts making any kind of noise, it's best to consult a
specialist before getting rid of it completely. There are many factors that
could have caused this disruption including corrosion within the internal
structure, leaks anywhere or even hardware problems. If these aren't treated
immediately, then they can lead up to bigger problems resulting in replacements
being necessary. However, if you follow all of these steps then you are already
halfway there to prevent these kinds of problems from occurring again.
So after reading this article I hope that
you now have a better understanding of how to properly take care of your
fridge. With a few additional guidelines and helpful information, following
these steps will allow you to prolong the lifespan of your appliance.
