One career option that seems to be booming currently would be real estate. There are plenty of real estate TikTok channels out there, and there are even major real estate influencers online as well. Plus, you’ll find plenty of real estate investors making videos on YoiTube, giving interviews, and don’t forget about some of the start-ups that are forming too. It’s amazing to think how huge this is exploding since real estate is finite. It’s honestly only going to get bigger as well. So, is this something that you should consider as a career? Here are some reasons why you may want to dive into real estate!
Lack of Prerequisites
One of the things you need to keep in mind is that there are technically some requirements. You can read this first to get an understanding. But for the most part, you don’t need to shoot through hoops. Yes, usually, you’ll need a license and maybe a certification, but it also depends on what you’re wanting to do in real estate. Remember, real estate is vast, so it’s not instantly just real estate agents or landlords. The industry is massive, so with all of these options, the requirements will vary, but it’s not as demanding as the educational or medical industry, for example.
You Can Work Your Own Hours
While it’s going to depend on what you do in the industry, for the most part, when it comes to working hours, there is more leeway. This industry isn’t entirely known for its 9 to 5 mantra. Whether you focus on residential resale, new construction, or commercial property management, you can choose the type of work that best fits your interests and schedule. For the most part, in terms of flexibility, it’s primarily real estate agents (freelance or not). It’s one of those jobs that don’t require a degree, and there’s a lot of movement (perfect for those who hate desk jobs).
While working as a real estate agent offers you exceptional flexibility, it’s important to have strong relationship-building skills and be able to meet clients when they are free. If you are not comfortable with these realities, then this is not the right career for you. However, with the right time-blocking techniques and commitment to your business goals, you can achieve success as a real estate agent without any limits.
It’s Easy to Build a Business
For the most part, it can be fairly easy to build up a business when you’re in this industry. In fact, most real estate giants all started out just by opening up their own businesses or even going the freelance route. If you love being your own boss and a career that allows you to be independent, real estate is the right choice for you. This career offers you unlimited earning potential and true independence. You have multiple options on how you can do this, whether it be to start out as a landlord, house flipping, buying and selling property, real estate, or investing, and it can honestly just go on and on.
Ideal if You’re a People-Person
If you enjoy building relationships, a career in real estate may be right for you. You’ll get to work with a wide range of people and meet new clients every day. If you choose to focus on residential resale, you’ll help individuals and families buy their dream homes or sell their current property for top dollar. Similarly, if you decide to become a commercial real estate agent, you’ll be responsible for selling offices, retail shops, industrial spaces, hotels, and more to businesses that need to expand or relocate.
Even if you’re not going to work directly with buyers, you’ll still get to have a lot of interaction. This is technically an industry where you need those charismatic skills and love to be around people. However, with the industry being so vast, options such as being a landlord, house flipping, or construction can offer options for less talking (if you’re introverted).
You’re Making a Difference
Like any industry, you’re getting the opportunity to make a difference for the better. One of the best things about real estate is that you can make a difference in people’s lives. You can help people find the homes of their dreams and help them build a strong foundation for their future. This is a career field where you do make a lasting impact for years upon years on end. It’s all very special and very meaningful, especially when you want to help people long-term, such as finding their dream home or getting them the perfect workspace for their new business.
